Links
These are the pages that I think you should check out either because the writing is good, or they are friends, or they have been nice enough to link to me. I don’t think that just throwing up a page of links is enough, I like to tell you why you should go. So take a second to check out the ones that interest you:
Food Blogs/Sites:
- Parties that Cook - Straight from the “why didn’t I think of that?” file comes this great site where you can have your group come together for a party where everyone involved gets to cook up a storm under the guidance of a staff of professional cooks. That sounds like a great party idea to me! And they have a pretty nice blog as well on the site.
- Always Order Dessert - The great Alejandra (who also writes “Sent from My Dell Desktop - see below) has come up with this awesome food blog - she went to culinary school in Italy (I’m so jealous!) - that not only talks about great desserts, but also expresses a certain love of food in life that makes it truly sweet.
- Eat Foo(d) - This used to be a blog that I added to, and some of my articles may still be up there, but even though I may not be writing for it, this blog is still an excellent read on a wide variety of great topics.
- Bacon Unwrapped - As we all know, I love bacon. It is quite possibly the world’s greatest food. These guys and gals do all things bacon, and it is funny to boot. Dieters need not read. The rest of you are bound to enjoy it!
- Jumbo Empanadas - Another great food blog from a lady who knows how to cook, and knows how to photograph food. When I write my first cookbook, I think I want her to do the photos…
- Appetites - Robert Peyton writes this great blog with all kinds of awesome opinions about food. He and I agree on absolutely everything in the world. Well OK, at least in the first few entries I read of his we did. But I am sure he is cool (he even uses adult words!) all the same.
- Anne’s Food - A great blog from Sweden, Anne is a true food lover in all senses of the word. Food, photos and recipes make this more than just a great blog, but a great cooking resource too.
- Exploring the Silver Spoon - She is cooking her way through the excellent Italian cookbook, Il cucchiaio d’argento (The Silver Spoon) which has over 2,000 recipes. Very well written, photographed and rates everything. As a lover of Italian food, and this cookbook, I think this is an amazing read.
- Food Blogga - Not only does she have lots of recipes and great photos, but I can just tell from reading her work that she is both intimately familiar with the tricks of the kitchen as well as a true lover of the culinary arts. This blog is a real winner.
- Matt Bites - At first you might think this would be another blog by me if only because of the same name. But in fact this is the blog of Matt Armendariz, a Los Angeles based foodie who writes with great passion and provides awesome information, recipes and photos. His personality really shines through in his blog, and lucky for us all, he has a great one.
- Alan Richman’s Blog - Many people know Alan Richman, the food editor from GQ magazine, but what most people don’t know is that he was my father’s roommate in college, so I actually have met him! He is a great writer, and has been kind enough to help me improve my writing on this blog as well. Be sure to read his food writing - it is far better than mine!
- The Bizarre Kitchen Incident - Great writing on a variety of food topics, this blog is written by a true foodie who has a nice slanted view on things. Kinda reminds me of me - guess that’s why I like her site so much!
- Appetizing Muse - Another great read about the foods that make Shenanchie happy. She has a warm style to her writing and it truly worth checking out.
- Cat Food - Eating is good, cooking is better is her tag line, and I couldn’t agree more. Unless of course we are talking about bacon of course. Anyway, check out this blog by Cat Morris, pastry chef and restaurant consultant.
Other Blogs/Pages:
- Rachael Ray Sucks Community - I had trouble deciding if this should be on the “links” or “laughter” page, but it is too awesome not to link to. It is seriously the funniest page devoted solely to ripping somebody a new one ever written. Just fabulous and downright hysterical.
- DC Blogs - I wrote in asking for a link in their blogroll (since I am a DC area guy) and they gave me a whole featured article! So now I think it’s even better than before! If you live anywhere near DC, this is a valuable resource.
- Stratford University - My culinary school. I owe them so much - like how to make hollandaise that won’t break and how to apply corn starch to keep “cool”.
- Nookie Cookie - This is the musings and rambling thoughts of my good friend Niki who was not only the first blog to link to me, but also she helped me come up with the name for this blog. She is seriously funny and terrified of clowns. Worth a read.
- Sent from My Dell Desktop - Another great blog writer who is kind enough to read my blog, say nice things about it and also link to me. She is clever, creative and apparently looking for the right guy! So head on over there fellas!
- The Sports Curmudgeon - Great sports writing from one of the grumpiest fans. And a fellow Best of Blogs winner!
- Inane Thoughts and Insane Ramblings - Remember the review site I sent you to above? Well here is that guy’s other site where he just writes about whatever strikes his fancy. Again, another good read and worth a visit.
- A Taste of Honey - A clever and creative personal blog that I won a Site of the Month award from. Spirited, fun, and worth a visit!
- D’Artagnan Gourmet Meats - They now offer the same organic and natural meat, foie gras, duck, wild game, pates, and sausages served by every single 4-star restaurant in NYC to home gourmets at www.dartagnan.com.
- The South Coast Diaries - This was a blog before such a thing existed. It was really just a story that a guy was unfolding as days went by, but it is both well-told and really funny. Also, there are some cool games you can play in it. This is the model for how cool I want my blog to be. A must-read.
- NobodyHere - This guy is one of the greatest flash programmers I have ever seen, and he has one of the darkest outlooks on life ever. His site is like a giant maze, but at least he did that on purpose. Really wild stuff.
Want to set up a link exchange? I am all for it!
